On 28th December 2005 I set out with 7 other bikers on a trip that was to change my life forever. The hair-brained scheme devised by fellow biker and trip leader Bill Oates was to take a fleet of Honda C90 pizza bikes all the way across the Sahara to Bansang Hospital. I said at the time that it would be a once in a life-time opportunity, a life changing experience and a hell of a laugh... Well, as the song says, two out of thre ain't bad. It was certainly one hell of a laugh and it did change my life in many ways... but once in a life time ??? Err, well no actually, I've just returned from my fifth trip to the hospital, 4 overland and 1 by air: and I'm already working on the trip which will travel out in 2013 !

At the moment I'm sat at home in Wales awaiting news from the fantastic TV Producer/Director, John Hunter who traveled with us this year as an integral part of the team, as to whether the BBC are going to take up the film he has made of this years fantastic journey, whilst eagerly awaiting the arrival from Canada of fellow bikers Taz & Joel. I met Taz & Joel at Horizons Unlimited's Ripley meeting last year and they later called in to stay with me for a few days. Whilst on a round their world bike trip Joel suffered a re-occurrence of a knee problem and had returned home to undergo a partial knee replacement. Now fully recovered from the operation the pair are about to re-join their trip and guess what ... I'm going with them !

Yes, for some strange reason Taz & Joel seem to enjoy my company and have invited me to tag along with them for a few weeks. The only concrete fact I have at the moment of the forthcoming adventure is that we are heading for the Horizons Unlimited meeting in Greece on the 26 to 28th July. When we leave the UK or when I return I know not! I don't have a clue as to the route we will be taking either before or after the meeting. I do have a very rough idea of heading off across Turkey after the event, having always wanted to get across to Van and see mount Ararat, although climbing it may be a little problematic as the area borders Iran and is, to say the least a little sensitive.
